Newport Festival Park

The area between the Taylor Southgate Bridge and the Purple People Bridge is a favorite community gathering place called Festival Park. It is a destination area for summer events like the Newport Italian Fest, the 4th of July motorcycle rally and the Labor Day River-fest Fireworks. Although there have been some improvements to the site with the addition of new electrical service, the entire 1100. Ft. of Ohio River shoreline could be used to a greater advantage. Currently, a Southbank study committee is exploring possibilities for improvements to Festival Park. Some of the improvements may come from recommendations of the Army Corps of Engineers feasibility study and some of the improvement may be as a result of wanting to make the area more events friendly.
