NEWPORT, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky Convention & Visitors Bureau presented its Star of

Tourism award to Southbank Partners at its annual meeting Thursday, March 13, 2014.

The Star of Tourism, which NKCVB started awarding in 2000, recognizes individuals,
organizations, and attractions that have made a significant positive impact on tourism in Northern Kentucky.
Southbank Partners received the award in recognition of its ongoing efforts to transform the Ohio River frontage in Southbank’s six partner cities, most notably its Riverfront Commons Project,an 11.5 walking and biking trail that, when completed, will extend from the City of Ludlow in Kenton County to the City of Fort Thomas in Campbell County.

Jack Moreland and Joyce McMullin were on hand to accept the award at the meeting.

“We are extremely honored to be recognized by the Northern Kentucky Convention & Visitors Bureau with its Star of Tourism award,” Moreland said. “Riverfront Commons has been years in the making and we are ready to take some exciting new steps in the upcoming year that will help make this project a reality and help to create a positive impact in partner cities.”

Many benefits will come from the development of the Riverfront Commons, such as eco-system restoration, riverside stabilization, economic development opportunities, and improved recreational facilities. Southbank Partners believes that development of the Riverfront Commons will contribute to increased housing and economic-development opportunities in Northern Kentucky’s river cities.
